Viseu is half way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Spanish border. The city of Viseu is surrounded by mountains with altitudes ranging between 400 and 700 metres.
Viseu is also home to the Montebelo golf course. Located just 10 minutes outside of Viseu and the first golf course to be constructed in the Beiras region. Set between two mountains the Montebelo golf course has 27 holes and covers an area of 200 hectares.
The Dão Wine Region
Viseu is nestled between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Carumulo mountain ranges and has spectacular countryside dotted with vineyards, fruit orchards and forests. Viseu town is the centre of the Dão wine growing region and Viseu's climate and soil create the perfect terrain for producing great wines.
The Grão Vasco Museum
The Museu Grão Vasco is dedicated to religious art, including sculptures, ceramics and furniture. The main exhibits of the museum are the painted altarpieces made for the Viseu Cathedral during the Renaissance
