Quinta da Ribeira is a lovingly restored self catering single story cottage, in a fantastic location, situated just outside Vila Nova de Poiares, Góis & Lousã. The cottage is the more recent part (circa 1900) of a former 16th century stone farm house. |

Quinta da Ribeira has 2 spacious bedrooms, one double and one with two single beds. A large modern family bathroom and a kitchen lounge dining room. Outside there is a private terrace overlooking the green valley and woodland. Quinta da Ribeira is in a private location on the edge of the village with wonderful views. Just a few meters from the door is a fonte which provides free crystal clear fresh mountain water |

The main entrance opens onto a large hallway with original oak wood floors, double doors lead into the spacious 2nd bedroom which has 2 single beds, a bedside table and reading lamp, comfortable sofa, writing desk and chair, shelves and clothes hanging space. |

To the front of the cottage there is a small patio terrace surrounded by flowers with views of olive and fruit tree orchards and the woodland beyond. There is ample shaded parking beneath the trees opposite the cottage. |

Breakfast A self-service continental style breakfast which consists of a variety of coffees and teas, juice, cereals, bread, butter, eggs, cheese and ham. |

For our self catering guests a welcome pack is provided consisting of wine, beer, juice, cheese, biscuits, olives and fresh local spring water. Additionally seasonal organic vegetables and fruit boxes can be ordered from within the local community. |

The property is accessed by a short flight of steps so is unsuitable for disabled visitors. Location Quinta da Ribeira is just a short walk from the local 'Convivio' (village social club) where you can buy hot and cold drinks, snacks and even attend their weekly 'keep fit' class. The owners of Quinta da Ribeira are on hand for advice and recommendation of places of interest and speak English and Portugeuse. The larger town Villa Nova de Poiares is a ten minute drive away where you will find, shops, supermarkets, a variety of popular resturants and a 10 pin bowling alley. Slightly further afield are the towns Góis and Lousã A few kilometers away are the rivers Mondego, Alva and Ceira, where you can swim, canoe or just relax in the sun at one of their praia fluvials (inland river beaches). |

Approximately 1 hours drive west from Quinta da Ribeira is the coastal town Figueira da Foz which has miles of golden sandy beaches, restaurants, cafe bars and shops. Coimbra, Portugal's 3rd city is a 30 minute drive and home to one of the worlds oldest universities, founded in 1290 by King Dinis. Coimbra sits on the edge of the River Mondego. In the old town narrow cobbled streets lead to hidden squares with cafe bars, shops and ancient churches. One hour south is the historical town Tomar on the banks of the Nabão River and probably most famous for its 12th century Templar castle. The main street leads to the Gothic Church of São João Baptista and the main square is surrounded by 17th century buildings. |
