Quinta da Cotovia is set in 1 hectare of terraced land with wonderful views across the village to the Barragem Carril lake and the Nights Templar Castle of Tomar. Quinta da Cotovia offers a self catering studio apartment, a B&B studio with ensuite, a tent bungalow and two caravans. Optional meals are available from a weekly international menu, breakfast, lunch and dinner. For your comfort during the winter months the studios and caravans have central heating. |

The Tent Bungalow |

The tent bungalow is spacious light and airy and can sleep up to 4 people. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. |

The living area has a table and four chairs, comfortable armchairs, storage cupboards and a small kitchenette with full sized fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The tent bungalow opens onto a small private raised terrace with a table and sun chairs and wonderful views of the Quinta and the valley. Behind the tent bungalow is a private cabin (exclusive to the tent bungalow) with a shower, toilet and sink. Both the tent and the cabin bathroom have an electricity supply. Cooking is not permitted in the tent, it is requested that guests use the communal kitchen or BBQ area. |

The Caravans |

There are two caravans available for hire, both caravans sleep up to 4 people and have one double bed and two single beds. |

Each caravan has a small kitchen area for making snacks, tea and coffee and there is a fridge. There is a small bathroom with toilet and handbasin. |

To the front of each caravan there is a private shaded area with a table and comfortable seating. |

A few meters from the caravans is a shower and toilet and an outside kitchen including a washing machine. Cooking is not permitted in the caravans, it is requested that guests use the communal kitchen or BBQ area. |

Communal Areas |

Quinta da Cotovia covers an area of 1 hectare and is made up of large flat terraces with fruit, olive, pine and cork trees and has a swimming pool with sun terrace. For guest use around the pool, there are sun loungers, a shaded seating area, a tree hammock and secluded terraces. For the safety of all guests its requested that all cooking is limited to the communal bbq area and outside kitchen. |

In the quinta main building you will find a large dining terrace where you are invited to join your hosts for breakfast, lunch and dinner. An international weekly menu is available, please reserve lunch in advance. Meals can also be served in the shade of a huge palm tree just below the main dining terrace. |

Guests may bring their own beverages to acompany meals or drinks can be purchased from the small essential supplies shop at the quinta. |

Location |

Quinta da Cotovia is located on the edge of a quiet village in an area of natural beauty surrounded by nature and wonderful woodland walks, yet you are only 7 kilometers from the historic town Tomar and its Knights Templar Castle. Fresh baked bread and rolls are available daily, along with some essential supplies; eggs, jam, honey, water and Quinta da Cotovia olive oil. A short walk, approximately 15 minutes, you will find a cafe bar and a supermarket. Aboboreira Fundeira has a regular bus service into Tomar and Olalhas, taxis can also be arranged, the 7km journey costs €7.50. Barragem de Carril, a fresh water lake is a pleasant stroll through woodland from the Quinta. Lake Carril is a great place to take a picnik and spend a sunny afternoon taking a cool dip in its crystal clear waters or to fish. A fishing license is required, this can be arranged for you in advance of your stay. Quinta da Cotovia also has a canoe available to hire for guest use on the Carril lake. The famous town of Fátima is 35km from the Quinta. Fátima is famous for the shrine called the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, built to commemorate the events of 1917 when three peasant children claimed to have seen the "Virgin of the Rosary". Coimbra is 85km. Coimbra is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1290 by King Dinis. Coimbra is Portugals third largest city and sits on the edge of the River Mondego. In the old town narrow cobbled streets lead to hidden squares of cafe bars, shops and ancient churches. Nazaré is a lovely seaside town approximately 1 hours drive west. Nazaré has lots of little side streets with shops and restaurants, a beautiful golden sandy beach where you can watch the locals drying their catch of the day. There is a fishing port at one end and monorail to the top of the cliffs at the other. |
