Mortagua is a tourist haven waiting to be discovered by those who enjoy the outdoors. Mortagua takes its name from the abundance of crystal clear water that can be found in this area.
Barragem Aguieira
The Barragem Aguieira forms a lagoon area (albufeira) of 20km. The lagoon is bordered by pine and eucalyptus trees and the dam provides domestic electricity. The Barragem Aguieira is used locally for swimming, fishing and boating.
The Aguieira lake is perfect for canoeing and has lots of small inlets and coves where you can stop and discover its hidden treasures.
The Dão Wine Region
Slightly further afield is Viseu. Viseu is nestled between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Carumulo mountain ranges and has spectacular countryside dotted with vineyards, fruit orchards and forests. Viseu town is the centre of the Dão wine growing region and Viseu's climate and soil create the perfect terrain for producing great wines.
The Grão Vasco Museum
The Museu Grão Vasco is dedicated to religious art, including sculptures, ceramics and furniture. The main exhibits of the museum are the painted altarpieces made for the Viseu Cathedral during the Renaissance
