Alvaiázere is bordered by the municipalities of Ansião (to the north), Figueiró dos Vinhos (to the northeast and east), Ferreira do Zêzere (to the southeast), Ourém (to the southwest) and Pombal (to the west). Maçãs de Dona Maria is located centrally between Lisbon and Porto and very close to the IC3 (North-South connection) and the IC8 (East-West connection). Lisbon and Oporto airports are approximately 1 hour 50 minutes by car. Maçãs de Dona Maria holds a weekly farmers market every Sunday. The beautiful lakes and mountains of Ferreira do Zêzere are only 10 kilometers east. In the surroundings of Ferreira do Zêzere there is the medieval village Dornes with fantastic views over the river Zêzere. Slightly further afield there is Foz de Alge, a natural fresh water lake, used locally for fishing, swimming, sailing or just relaxing and soaking up the sun shine and Ana Aldeia de Aviz praia fluvial located just off the IC8 at Figueiró dos Vinhos. |
