Casa Papagaio is a beautifully restored country cottage nestled in a valley on the edge of the lovely and peaceful village Carapinhal.

Casa Papagaio is located in the courtyard of the main farmhouse (occupied by the owners) and has been sympathetically restored in a rustic style to a very high standard.

Casa Papagaio has one double bedroom, an ensuite bathroom and an open plan lounge kitchen dining area.

For guests with a young child, a travel cot, highchair and stair gates are also available (at no extra cost).

Outside there is a balcony and private roof terrace with valley and hillside views.

For your comfort during the winter months there is a cosy log burner.

Casa Papagaio self catering holiday accommodation spans two floors. External steps lead up to the balcony, roof terrace and living area.

The front door opens onto an open plan kitchen dining room lounge area.

The pine fitted kitchen, crafted by local tradesmen has granite worktops, a four ring gas oven and hob with grill, a fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave, toaster and kettle. All crockery, cutlery and cookware are provided.

The homely dining and lounge area has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, giving a spacious feel. A dining table and chairs, a log burner, comfortable sofa, TV, dvd and cd players and broadband internet. For your entertainment books, games and dvd's are also provided.

If you prefer a night out and don't want to drive the owners are on hand and can arrange for a taxi to take you to one of the numerous local restaurants.

Stairs in the lounge lead down to the bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

The double bedroom has feature exposed beams giving a romantic cottage ambience.

There is a comfortable double bed with bedside tables, a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The ensuite bathroom has a toilet, bidet, handbasin and shower. There is an electric heater and heated towl rail.

Outside Areas

A door from the lounge leads out onto a private balcony where its not uncommon to see Red Kites and Buzzards circling overhead.

The balcony leads to a private roof terrace with table, chairs and sun umbrella, perfect for dining alfresco, there is also a bbq and comfortable reclining chairs.

There is a small gravel garden at the base of the cottage which makes a lovely afternoon suntrap. Alternatively, the terrace provides shade in the afternoons.

There is shaded parking in the beautiful open schist built barn. This leads through to the cottage garden available for guest use.

Fresh Produce

The owners can arrange for fresh morning rolls to be delivered daily on request and generous friendly neighbours supply seasonal fruit and vegetables, so don't be surprised to find free fresh produce on your doorstep.

When in season you are free to help yourself to oranges and lemons from the citrus trees outside your bedroom window.

The property is accessed via internal and external stairs so is unsuitable for disabled guests.

Location

Casa Papagaio is perfectly situated less than 5 minutes drive from the thriving town of Mortágua and less than 10 minutes from beautiful Santa Comba Dao.

Mortágua caters for all your day to day needs with its cafe bars, restaurants and local farmers market (every other Thursday). There are also two lovely open air swimming pools with cafe bars onsite.

The Spa town Luso and Buçaco National Park are just 15 mintutes drive away.

Luso is one of Portugals most important spa towns Agua de Luso flows freely from fountains and spings in the town centre and is renowned for its healing properties. During the summer months visitors and residents take advantage of the free water and seek the healing qualities of the thermal baths.

Buçaco is home to the famous Buçaco Palace Hotel, located in the Buçaco National Park. 105 hectares of centuries old walled forest, planted by the order of the Barefoot Carmelites in the 17th century. This famous botanical treasure includes specimens of rare and exotic plants collected from all over the world.

Casa Papagaio is within easy reach of the major road and rail routes. Porto airport is approximately 1 ½ hours by car and Lisbon airport 2 hours.

Casa Papagaio is an ideal location for singles, couples and friends to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a wonderful location surrounded by natural beauty.
